D.Sc. Eduardo Gomez Maqueo

D.Sc. Gomez Maqueo has broad experience on research and industrial process design in the area of liquids separation by surface enhanced processes using nanotechnology. Dr. Gomez Maqueo has both academic and industrial experience covering more than 30 years.
He started as a researcher at the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP), the research branch for the government owned Oil Company in Mexico, in the area of alternate energy processes. Dr. Gomez Maqueo participated in the development and characterization of a phosphoric acid Fuel Cell, along with the auxiliary processes like natural gas reforming to produce high yield Hydrogen. He also participated in a collaborative program between IMP and the USA-DOE as a visiting researcher at Los Alamos National Lab. (New Mexico) to transfer the Aspen simulation code from a Cray-S1 supercomputer to a VAX-11 minicomputer. After completing his work and verifying its proper operation, Dr. Gomez Maqueo installed the code to simulate petrochemical processes back in Mexico. He was promoted to Department Head in Alternate Energy processes at IMP.
In 1986 he moved to Monterrey, where he started teaching at his Alma Mater in the Chemical Engineering Department. His duties included teaching and management of a small consulting group at the Environmental Quality Center. His group focused on Energy Efficiency, Environmental Impact Assessment and Reduction, providing general Engineering consulting projects for companies all over Mexico. He was also appointed as Inspector for Environmental Law Compliance for the Mexican Environmental Protection Agency. After leaving ITESM, Dr. Gomez Maqueo traveled all over Latin America as a business consultant for AspenTech, a software company, analyzing processes (Chemical and Petrochemical) and proposing design modifications, operational optimization techniques and quality verification processes using AspenTech's software for several international companies. Later Dr. Gomez Maqueo worked for IHSA, an Oil and Gas operator for PEMEX in Mexico managing a small group on production optimization and contractor's compliance verification.
Dr. Gomez Maqueo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from ITESM, Monterrey, Mexico, a Master Degree in chemical Engineering from ITESM Monterrey, Mexico and Doctor in Science degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is co-inventor of five international patents in the fields of water treatment and oil field water operations.
