Short history note
The Gilbert Uribe lease lays on one of the most important oil reservoirs discovered by Humble Oil (now ExxonMobil) that hit the third and largest "Boom" in 1935 in the Loma Novia field.
The Loma Novia field, which now contains more than 7,599 acres of proven oil land, was discovered by the Humble Oil & Refining Company (Now ExxonMobil) on December 27, 1934. The discovery well, No. 1 D. Ruiz Estate, was completed for an initial production of 59 barrels of oil and 15 barrels of salt water from a Jackson sand formation at 2,790 feet, just below the main Government Wells sand formation.
Development in this field has been particularly active since January 1, 1936. The total production since its discovery until January 1, 1939, has amounted to 12,071,295 barrels. As most of the fields of the general Government Wells area, they have been developed with a spacing pattern of 1 well to 19 acres.
